Exercise | Kathak
What is your favourite form of exercise ?
I learnt Kathak while I was a kid and for about 4 years learnt at the Natraj Gopi Krishna Kathak Institute in Khar. However since then Kathak took a backseat while I went on to learn contemporary and Latin American dance styles and enjoyed them more. Then recently I attended a scintillating dance performance by a cousin and was so enamoured that I ordered a pair of Ghungroos on Amazon and decided to try my hand at it once again.
I think Running and Dancing are my two favourite ways to workout. A friend of mine has converted the spare room in her house into a room for her yoga + dance workouts and she does these amazing Zumba routines that keep her fit and healthy. I think it’s a great idea to take inspiration from and get some calories burnt through a dance exercise routine…
Given it’s a Saturday today and I have some ‘Me Time’, I plan to put them to use. If you know of a Kathak school or class in South Mumbai please let me know…I am looking at weekend classes perhaps.
Dancing or running can be great for dealing with stress or just unwinding. Perhaps you can just pick a few happy songs and freestyle your stress away the next time you’re feeling a little low….
